 It is the security features and power allocation of areas that Element developers focus on, above all else: end-to-end encryption ensures that only authorized users can see your messages, while server selection (including home servers) means more flexibility and identity when it comes to your data. It is a comprehensive package, although there are not many easy-to-use items for consumers or a lot of saliva and polish you can get from some of the most popular alternatives. You can use the Element and Matrix protocol to communicate with other chat platforms, including Slack, SMS, Signal, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts, Skype, Discord and -iMessage, among others - or you will need to know something with your server to set this integration. 

Element Display Subscribing to Element is a breeze, with your simple option - if you just want to try the service for free - opt for the matrix.org public server. One nice touch is the ability to generate a security key that you can use to encrypt your messages again, if you forget your password. You also need to verify the email address you registered with, as an additional security framework. 

While the interface does not have an object polish like Microsoft Teams or Facebook Messenger, it is well presented and installed, and everything is easy to find. Whether you want to attach a file to the message or look for public rooms on your server, everything is neat and accessible, and it won't take you long to find the software. 

We love the ability to make conversations more important or favorites - as well as general - and the tweaks you can make in notifications so you don’t get frustrated (you can only get alerts if you are specifically mentioned, for example). Another useful feature is the option of newcomers to the room to view all sent history messages, or messages that appear after logging in for the first time.

And an extended version of Olm (Megolm) that permits the Matrix to support end-to-end encryption among thousands of devices in large chat rooms. We can even say that if you * want * to place all of your messaging eggs in one fenced garden basket, Signal is maybe the foremost sensible option. 

It doesn't have a sponsored business model, nor does it produce its users. Kudos. Signal, however, is that the buyer's range only (while Element includes personal, public and business charges). You place all of your trust in one Signal-driven application, instead of in your own reliable choices.
